Infant/preschool

We Are Many, We Are One

While the major focus of this group will focus upon cooperative play, we will offer to older preschoolers some more structured curriculum which will help to understand our differences and our similarities, and to respect each other. This is a beginning towards social justice in the world.

Grades K – 5

In Our Hands: A Peace and Social Justice Program

This curriculum lets children explore their feelings about peace and justice issues, with justice being defined as fairness. They will explore conflict and unfairness issues and explore positive ways of resolving conflict and promoting peace in their relationships. They begin with exploring these issues within their own interpersonal relationships, and then take that to learn about these issues in the wider world. The year culminates with a service project and the creation of a peace quilt.

Grades 8 – 12

A Chorus of Faiths

Part of a joint venture of the UUA and the Interfaith Youth Core (founded by Eboo Patel) and funded by the Shelter Rock congregation, these sessions develop UU youth as interfaith leaders. Youth explore values of service to our community and religious pluralism through stories from our Sources and personal storytelling, and coordinate an interfaith service. Each workshop includes a story and related activities. The youth, in partnership with other faith communities, will organize a community service project in the spring.
